Ed Littman's Splatt

Improvisational Boldness Meets Esoterica

Remember Monty Python's, "And now for something completely different?" They might have foretold the release of Ed Littman's Splatt, the thirteen track self-titled instrumental CD featuring improvisational avant-jazz/rock recorded with an ear for the 'outside'. Featuring bassist Danny Zanker and drummer John Bollinger in addition to guitarist Littman, the trio set out to redefine the listener's concept of a normal listening experience with compositions that are structured, yet completely unpredictable. From the sound collage which opens the CD ("Trap-Op") to the '60s-hard-rock-influenced closer ("Another Emotion") you'll be sailing on an improvisational ship of wonders, with an overdriven guitar as your captain, along with backward tape tricks and sound effects as first mate. Highly original? Yes - no doubt - an adventure in musical extemporization.

Ed was born in New York City and grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey. Influenced by the Beatles "Revolver" album, he picked up the guitar at age 16. Ed explored jazz, rock and blues with local teachers, then attended and graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 1986 with a Bachelor's Degree in Professional Music. In the late '80s, he founded the Ed Littman Group, and later released his first album "Sounds Of Colors" in 1991. Songs from the album became the soundtrack to the movie "The Space Between". Ed has also written music for the film, "The Irreversible Year". He recently started the record label Yeahman Records, which released his first full solo outing, entitled "My Window", featuring Mark Egan on bass and Danny Gottlieb on drums. Ed also fills the guitar chair for Brilliant Coroners, a six-piece group that plays unique and original arrangements of tunes by the great Thelonius Monk.

In the future Littman plans to keep writing, recording and performing his own brand of guitar music. He has recently built a new mastering studio, where he specializes in analog and tube equipment. Producers and artists love the sound that Littman gets on their projects.

Hard Livin' & Hard Playin'

Alligator Stew's self-titled CD brings Southern Rock into the 21st century with eleven song-oriented, blues-inspired cuts, complete with wounded-hound dog slide guitar and whiskey-soaked throat courtesy of Gary Jeffries. Emerging from the 'bayous' of Indiana, the band (Chris Turbis, keys, John Andrews, steel guitar, Doug Richardson, bass, T.C. Markle, drums) feels the blues and delivers the supernatural ("Voodoo Spell"), the biographical ("Louisiana Man") and the mordant ("Blood Money") in a story-like fashion with a hard rock dynamism. Jeffries enhances the gumbo with harmonica, and Andrews wields a potent Dobro on occasion. With topical lyrics that retain the sense and inspiration of early cowboy ballads blended with a crack instrumental ability, Alligator Stew is poised to ascend to the mantle dominated in the past by bands such as Hatchet, Skynyrd and .38 Special.

pic Formed just a few short years ago, Alligator Stew is now known in 17 different countries and have earned high praise from major music publications. Labeled as "One Of The Hottest Bands In The Nation" by Music Connection Magazine (a West Coast Trade) and "Best Southern Rock Band" By Rock City News are just a few of the accolades. Known for their hard drivin' music, spectacular shows and soulful songs, Alligator Stew is a favorite on the club circuit, receiving rave reviews from fans bookers and journalists. They recently signed a record deal with the German label, Halycon Records, and the international version of their CD was released June 5th, in areas of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Alligator Stew want to make their livings doing what they love to do. They plan to tour the South and Midwest, where the audience screams and the bands get paid.
