Review of "Under A Watchful Eye"

By: Perry Bisman

letter arren Wilson is a guitarist/songwriter from Adelaide, Australia who has come to the conclusion, by going it alone he'll get his music out to the world on his terms with his dignity firmly intact. Currently available via the Internet, the boy from the wine capital of Australia is already achieving what many waiting for the big record deal will never get--exposure.

Airplay of Darren's debut "Under A Watchful Eye" is happening in Belgium, The Netherlands, Canada, USA and of course Australia's metro areas.

Written, performed and recorded entirely by Darren means the road to revelation has not been easy but his steep learning curve has levelled off and he is now enjoying the plateau of personal success such a huge endeavour inevitably brings.

A fully instrumental work, "Under A Watchful Eye" showcases Darren's unique guitar tecchnique and if comparisons must be made, it would be to guitar legends like Joe Satriani with the album's cruised out rock feel. This album will not rattle your fillings loose with stonka, stonka, stonka distorted guitar riffs, rather chill you out on a summer's afternoon with it's cool grooves.

Apart from the obvious and slighty tedious drum machine throughout, this is indeed a fine start from one of Aussies lil' battlers so grab some cash and make a stash 'cos we're picking this will be a collectors item when Darren is rich and famous. Judging by this album, it's on the cards.
