Review of "Twins"
|
wins reveals a rich gamma of dynamic and quiet improvisations drawing from diverse styles, wherein meditative ambient, exotic and intangible sounding world music, jazz ornaments, fragments of blues and classical music alternately claim their place in the sun without sounding ego tripping for one monent. Listen to Gilbert Isbin's brilliant guitar playing on "Nazca" or "Wide" or the way in which Verbeke lets his Himalyan bowls sing on 'Secrets' and realize that there are still people who don't want to restrict themselves to imposed conventions which demand only little effort of your ear musscles.
