ne of the most leading jazz guitarists, Peter Autschbach who is an author
for the German guitar magazine Akustik Gitarre, released a versatile album
with many additional musicians. Inspired by Joe Pass and other jazz and
fusion guitarists he developed a fantastic guitar playing style, with a very
own signature and a real melodic approach to music. His music shows good
structure, balance and improvising talent. Peter Autschbach plays acoustic
guitars, a Frame Works nylon string guitar, a guitar synthesizer and an E
guitar. This CD is as one of his compositions "Transcontinental" very varied
with South American rhythms, blues, rock and fusion elements. Peter played
with lot of prominent guitarists and musicians around the globe. A short
homage to Hendrix's Little Wing is followed by many broad sound escapades on
pieces as "Montevideo", "Mind The Gap", "Strange Vacation", the fusion track
"Brazilian Air" and the grooving "Santama" with influences of Carlos
Santana. The whole band Terminal A who joins Peter Autschbach on this album
does a splendid job on bass, guitar, drums and percussion and all have a
fine interaction. The last track "Back Home" is a soulful ballad with an
intimate character. For especially jazz and fusion guitar players and
listeners this CD is highly recommended!
