rained to Play is a shredders dream come true. Theodore Zirus is a master guitar technician with a very advanced playing technique that borders on insane!! Fast, clean, smoldering arpeggios breath fire into the mostly neo-classical compositions. Theodore is a graduate of the Guitar Institute of London, where he obviously excelled as a virtuoso guitar player. His compositions are grounded in the classical music of such luminaries as Bach and Listz.
He blends the compositions of the old masters with a modern approach drawing from guitar influences such as Tony MacAlpine, George Bellas, Alex Masi and the all time great Jason Becker. Tracks such as "The First Attempt" and the more melodic "Mysterious Simplicity" showcase his awesome vibrato and picking technique. The highlight of the CD is the very classical "Gush" where Theodore totally goes to town, sweeping through licks with the bravado of a seasoned master with no limitations. Watch out for this young gun - his over the top, yet controlled playing, combined with classically influenced chops make him one to keep an eye on.
