  Sunday Morning Coffee
This piece is dedicated to my brother Theo (a great guitar player) for the company he's kept me all these years and for making me love the guitar. I followed him through the difficulties of mastering the Instrument and learned a lot about it myself in the process. The guitar Inspires this piece. It starts out with all strings in the open position.

  Metamorphosis
I began my loose sketches with this piece--something I've had in the back of my mind for years. Actually, the execution of it was not exact, but it's where I began just to see what would come of it. The slower section is where I activated my Lexicon JamMan--many of the following tunes incorporate the use of the JamMan with no tape overdubbing involved. This is how some moments with one guitar come about in concert. So let this first piece serve as an introduction to what's to come on this project.

  Aragon
For this tune I tried to combine elements of 16th century classical music with a flamenco vibe so the title had to reflect that. I decided to name it after Catherine of "Aragon" (Aragon is a region of N.E. Spain) who was Henry VIII's first wife.

  Mind Games
A very up tempo and moving song, going wild with the whole harmonic minor / Phrygian dominant tonality. This tune is pretty wide open all the way through. I really tried for a great tone, not only on this song, but the whole CD. There are also some pretty expressive wah parts throughout.

  In Progression
A baroque march and some fuzzed-out arpeggios from Jason begin this powerhouse opener. Dick takes over for the tune proper a few seconds in, with Jason’s distorted backing. Following Dick’s clean, mellow statement, Jason returns with a multitracked guitar choir and solo. There is a slight Latin tinge to the rhythm section backing of bassist, Ritch Stewart and drummer, Steve Hudgins. The opening section returns to bookend this song.

  Zoiks
This little ditty could be the soundtrack to Scoob and Shag flooring a flaming Mystery Machine clear down to "meddling kid" hell, while Jim Page, Al Lee and Al Holdsworth are in the back seat, all trying to make time with the ever-sultry Daphne... get the picture?

  Over The Edge
This was originally written for a weekly TV show on ESPN called "Sports On The Edge". I wrote the song with Mark Mikel and Jon Stain; at the time the three of us did quite a bit of music for televison.

  I Dream Prophecy
The opening track describes a dream set on a chilly autumn afternoon where our protagonist happens upon an old abandoned house in the forest. As he approaches the aging structure, he sees his reflection in a window. The reflection stares back briefly, but then sadly, shaking its head, it turns and walks away and his vision fades leaving him with an empty view of the interior of the house. What could it mean? This vision must mean something. Was it a trick of the eye, some cruel prank? Leaving this scene, he is filled with dread as he ponders the meaning of it all.

  World Of Wonders
Yes,we are definetivly living in a world full of wonders. Somehow I love pure trio settings. Guitar, drums and bass is just enough to make up a cool arrangement. Every musician gets a lot of space and nothing can get lost in the mix. This song has a pretty rough attitude and I use a lot of double note lines to make the guitar sound thicker. It's rhythm and lead at the same time and this combination has been used by every great blues player that I know. I played a '72 Strat (Eb tuning) through a Custom Audio Preamp and a Mesa Boogie power amp. The Celestion G12T75 speakers are miked by two SM 57´s. Check out Gary´s cool bass lines during the solo.
