Tribal Tech

"Thick"

The Story
"Thick", the 1999 release from guitarist Soctt Henderson and bassist Gary Willis (and those other two guys who didn't rate front cover credit), is stellar jazz fusion, and stands to be one of Tribal Tech's best-selling CDs this decade. It is a skillful combination of the creative, high-tech fusion the group originated along with a small dash of commercial flavorings. The CD, on the whole, is awe-inspiring, daring and creative. After 13 years of recording and performing, it is no surprise that Tribal Tech has earned a considerable following and are taking the jazz fusion scene by storm with their fresh musical attitude. On "Thick", the band delivers a potent mindbend of groovin' jazz and high energy fusion that demands repeated listenings. Not to take anything away from the excellent keyboard work of Scott Kinsey or the turbo-driven drumming of Kirk Covington, but this is really the Scott Henderson/Gary Willis show, and they deliver, as expected.
