Marco Ferrigno
"The Quest"
|
Fans of George Bellas and Francesco Fareri now have a new guitarist to jump on. Mexican guitarist Marco Ferrigno, a student of Bellas, has released "The Quest", a magnificent progressive neo-classical CD that showcases Ferrigno's guitar gifts in a setting supported by keyboardists Javier Leal and Alejandro Romanillos (who play in the MacAlpine/Sherinian style), bassist Daniel Ulloa and heavy-duty drummer Rudy Tamez. Ferrigno supplies enough hot licks to keep the shred heads satisfied, offering blazing arpeggios and classically inspired lines seeped in musicality. A nice change of pace rarely found on an instrumental guitar CD is the track "Drum Solo", in which Tamez gets to show off his drum chops for a few minutes. Bellas himself adds, "I really think this guy should be heard. He is a tremendous talent with an ambitious attitude. Some real spine-tingling performances on this album."
