Review of "The Moon Is Falling"
|
By: Wayne Klinger
nother returnee is Joel Hoekstra bringing back his commrades Virgil Donati and bassist Ric Fierabracci for a 14-track dirge following-up "Undefined" that brought him some acclaim. This release is a good hour long, so you have to soak it in good.
Joel has shared the stage with well-known musicians, actors and actresses throughout his lengthy career and has had a streak of 723 shows with notable rock veterans. "The Moon Is Falling" shows you why he is highly sought after. A bit heavier than "Undefined", "The Moon Is Falling" is some elaborate Rock, Metal, Jazz and Blues fusion melded into some intricate timings and off-beat song structuring. I call it pure genius when these three guys get together. I hear elements of Hoey and Uhrich but maybe not in the sense of influences, just little comparisons as Hoekstra is totally to himself style-wise and originality. This disc is just phenomenal and you'll be hearing quite a bit of this guy in the public eye.
