Following in the footsteps of Joel Hoekstra's first CD, "Undefined", is The Moon Is Falling which again features world class, ground-breaking drumming from virtuoso Virgil Donati (Planet X, Tribal Tech, Steve Vai) and bass by Ric Fierabracci (Frank Gambale, Andy Summers, Chick Corea). Chris Grove and Jay Cappo contribute keyboards, while Dan Cipriano adds sax flavorings. As one might expect, the CD is heavily guitar-driven and has the creativity meter set at 'full'. You'll hear funked up grooves not found anywhere else, puctuated by blasts of shredded fusion ("Fire Island", title track), as well as some of the most beautiful playing Hoekstra has yet recorded ("Confessions"). The Moon Is Falling is a must-have for Hoekstra fans, and a strong recommendation for anyone loving creative, superbly executed rock and fusion.
