Bill Connors

"Theme To The Gaurdian"

The Story
Guitarist Bill Connors may be best known as the original guitarist in Chick Corea's Return To Forever band (he played on 1973's "Hymn Of The 7th Galaxy"). Connors left Corea's group to concentrate on his acoustic playing, which led to recordings like 1974's solo acoustic guitar work "Theme To The Gaurdian". Played with smoothness and clarity, yet haunting and ethereal in their sonic impact, Connors' original compostions are jazz-based, melodic and evocative. Listening to the album in 2002, one could never guess the music was recorded in 1974 - there is nothing to give away the time or place - this is timeless music as powerful today as it ever was.
