letter rey Gunn, is a unique musician, playing experimental prog/fusion, heavily inspired by his work with Fripp in the latest editions of King Crimson, he is unique in that he plays what is called a Warr Touch guitar(go to www.warrguitars.com/ to see this thing!), it is much like the more popular "Chapman Stick" made popular by fellow Crimson mate Tony Levin. It is an instrument that allows intonation with both hands, giving the guitarist similar freedom as keyboardists have enjoyed for centuries, it also has a rather vast range for notation offering the ranges of both bass and guitar, so well practiced players can perform phrasings and melodies simultaneously. TJOM, is a showcase for the instrument, and also features some very innovative percussion by Bob Muller, also guitarist Tony Geballe who adds some very interesting contrasts to Gunns' mesmeric trancings, by doing contra-melodies. By the way, there is no Chapman stick on this recording. If you are familar with Sean Malone, another innovator of touch styled instruments (Chapman Stick), he of Gordian Knot notoriety, which is also a collaboration with Gunn, as well as some other great musicians. That is the style of TJOM, very similar stuff, also somewhat like the more recent editions of King Crimson that include Trey.
