Featuring a combination of guitarist Ed Wynne's blazing freakouts over Tangerine Dream-like space rock, "The Hidden Step" offers more world music influences and sound effects than the typical Tentacles release. Keyboardist Seeweed shares duties with Wynne laying down the bed of heavy synth soundscapes and sequences which are perfect for the fluid guitar work Wynne lays over each track. The band effortlessly moves from total mayhem to tranquil, peaceful, almost meditative moments, and back again, without missing a beat - a feat in itself. A great introduction to the Ozrics, or a mighty fine addition to a hard-to-acquire Tentacles catalog collection.
