Djam Karet

"The Devouring"

The Story
Returning to their instrumental progressive rock rooks, Djam Karet released "The Devouring" in 1997, the band's first release for Cuneiform Records and their current home. Full of odd time signatures, wailing guitars, a hard driving rhythm section, sound effects, and everything from Hammond organ and Mellotron to 12 string guitar, koto and bottled bass, "The Devouring" received worldwide acclaim and many positive reviews hailing it as a "return to form" and "a prog rock masterpiece". Three musicians lended their guitar talents to the album, spearheaded by guitarist Gayle Ellett, and augmented by Henry J. Osborne (who primarily plays bass for the group) and Mike Henderson (who adds electric and 12 string guitars to tracks 1, 2, 3 and 5).
