Review of "The Colours Of Darkness"

By: Robert Silverstein

letter uitarist Dave Halverson released a 2005 CD with Trance Lucid and it's clearly the band's best effort yet. Dark and intense, the six track, 25 minute, The Colours of Darkness is outstanding guitar based fusion for the new millennium. Halverson shines on electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards and guitar synth while receiving top flight support from both Terry Lee (drums) and Bill Noertker (bass). In 2003, Halverson released a fine solo album of minimalist avant-garde electric guitar soundscapes (Fragments of What), yet on this third Trance Lucid album he gets back to what he does best, which is playing intelligent instrumental jazz with a rock fusion edge.
