The Rippingtons issued a retrospective in 1997, which may have been a bit premature with all of the albums released afterwads, but The Best Of The Rippingtons offers a nice overview of their recorded output up until that point. Tracks are selected from the albums "Brave New World" (1996), "Kilimanjaro" (1989), "Moonlighting" (1988), "Sahara" (1994), "Welcome To The St. James Club" (1990), "Tourist In Paradise" (1989), "Weekend In Monaco" (1992) and "Curves Ahead" (1991), and two brand new tracks are included (breaking from the "Best Of" theme), "Garden Of Babylon" and "Sapphire Island" with Kochanski on piano. Notably missing from the album list is their "Live In L.A." CD, which ironically contains the lions share of the six-string fireworks. Indeed, if you like the axework on this collection, you'll have to pick up a number of the albums (especially the ones through 1990), as guitarist Russ Freeman played a lot more overdriven electric guitar in those days. Instrumental Guitar (Electric/Smooth Jazz/World), total running time, 60:17 - Rippingtons @ iTunes!
