Cadillac Hitmen
"The Assassin"
|
"The Assassin" features the surf guitar and spaghetti-western sounds of New Hampshire's Cadillac Hitmen. Formed in 1996, the band is fueled by guitarists Jeff Morris and Robert Garceau and bassist Tina Marconi, while drummer Steve Toland pounds out the tom-heavy rhythms. Lead guitarist Morris coaxes both clean, slinky lines and slightly overdriven whammies and fills from his deep Gretsch guitar. Each of the eleven instrumental tracks on the CD paint a unique sonic landscape, from the cowboy-driven thunder of "Fistful of Amphetamines" to the feedback-embellished, south-of-the-border surf slickness of the title track to the beans-'n'-jalapeno rowdy rock break of "The Incident At Nacho Grande." Solid, reverb-drenched instro-surf.
