Greek guitarist Ioannis Anastassakis has finally released his long-awaited rock/fusion instrumental CD, entitled Suspension Of Disbelief. Anastassakis remarks, "I firmly believe that a competent rock guitarist should also be a solid improviser within the medium and I am very much against the latest trend of rock/metal guitarists to compose their guitar solos! I would like to stress the fact that ALL the solos in this recording are improvised on the spot! This does not mean that everything was played live; in many occasions, after making a mistake, I would replay something, but all the guitar solos in this CD are IMPROVISED. When I was growing up, I was very impressed with guitarists/composers that were able to write long compositions, like Al DiMeola, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dream Theater and Vinnie Moore. This obviously rubbed off on my style, since none of the compositions included in this recording is less that 5 minutes and 30 seconds long. I hope you enjoy them!"
