<title>"Zappa Plays Zappa" by Dweezil Zappa (Hard Rock)</title>
<link>http://www.guitar9.com/guitarmusic9/zappaplayszappa.html</link>
<description>Dweezil Zappa writes about Zappa Plays Zappa in the liner notes, "My father once said progress is not possible without deviation from the norm. He spent his life and musical career absurdly corroborating that statement. In his music you will rarely find uniformity. Instead you will find a sweeping array of multitudinous rhythmic permutations, assigned to wildly intriguing melodies that are sometimes draped over text. The end result however you may describe it is a remarkable human achievement. With over 75 astonishingly diverse albums, my father left behind a body of work that will clearly stand the test of time. The concert and CD are a spectacular denouement. Make no mistake about it. Zappa Plays Zappa is a labor of love for me and my family and its sole purpose is to officially celebrate Frank's music and act as a conduit, bringing interested parties to the original inimitable source. A lifetime's worth of the World's Finest Optional Entertainment awaits those with open minds..."

<title>"Valley Of Fire" by Southern Gentlemen (Blues/Rock)</title>
<link>http://www.guitar9.com/guitarmusic9/valleyoffire.html</link>
<description>Southern Gentlemen's CD, Valley Of Fire, features the same lineup as the band's previous release, "Third Time Is The Charm". Vocalist Eric Johns, bassist Dave Swart and drummer Mike Haid join guitarist David T. Chastain. Valley Of Fire continues the band's mission of incorporating Hard Rock, Blues and Metal into the Southern Gentlemen sound - sound that is growing in acceptance and appreciation for its uniqueness in today's scene. David states, "This lineup really clicked on the last CD so I wanted to carry forward and see what we could do with the guys contributing from day one of the recording process. In the past I had written everything but this time Eric wrote all of the lyrics and melodies and this really added a different ingredient to the mix that definitely moved the music to another level. Mike and Dave really 'locked' in together to form a foundation that powers each track." By the way you have probably heard some of the other Southern Gentlemen Cds and didn't even know it. The band's music has been used extensively on numerous TV networks such as VH1, Discovery, USA, MTV, A&amp;E, Biography, National Geographic, History Channel, Discovery, Discovery Health, CMT, Travel Channel, Animal Planet, Bravo, HGTV, VSPOT, Disney, SCI-FI, Spike TV and others.

<title>"Whatever" by Jennifer Batten (Shred)</title>
<link>http://www.guitar9.com/guitarmusic9/whatever.html</link>
<description>Critically acclaimed as one of the most creative, imaginative and talented guitarists on the planet and always at the forefront of technology Jennifer Batten returns for her third solo album in the captivating sonic tapestry of Whatever. Released as a dual pack of CD and DVD, the album is described in style by Jennifer herself as "guitronica". The album possesses plenty of guitar, but Whatever is heavily multi textured with a plethora of sounds and vocal samples, and has a humorous thread throughout. The music is also influenced by various ethnic cultures such as the African vibe in "Off the Deep End". On the albums creation Jennifer comments, "Originally I started writing a lot of these tracks for Jeff Beck when I was in his band. My third CD has been long overdue, so in the end I'm happy to have these tracks for myself! He got me interested in electronica and I'm very happy to have that as a new direction with all the amazing inspiring sounds available today."
