Fingerstyle
Sometimes Splatter Paints is fingerstyle guitarist Nick Thompson's second CD release, and features nine original pieces and one "otherworldly" cover version of Lennon and McCartney's "Eleanor Rigby". Consisting of 6- and 12-string guitars and nothing else, the record directly conveys the thoughts and emotions of the composer, especially on the tracks "Sometimes Spaces" and "Timothy". Thompson also uses a variety of interesting guitar techniques on Sometimes Splatter Paints, including some unorthodox tapping used to outline and enhance the melody on the song "Ylime". The final track, "Enola" contains some wonderfully beautiful fretwork throughout, a fitting end to Thompson's original work. Instrumental Guitar (Acoustic/Fingerstyle), total running time, 54:07 - Nick Thompson @ iTunes!
