While guitarist Paul Rose's all instrumental CD "Magic City" effortlessly moves from heavy rock to jazz to fusion to blues, his CD Slideaway takes a more eclectic,experimental, at times spacey, at times ambient route. Included this time are two vocal numbers and "Demons" a brief-but-heavy guitar track opening with a bit of Sunday sermon. As you might also expect from the CD title, Rose plays a good amount of slide guitar on the album, especially on the slide tour de force, "Slide Away". Bucking the experimental focus, the opening track "Addiction" is highlighted by some amazing legato runs, while "Take A Mile" features examples of shimmering, cleanly played guitar passages.
