Roy Vogt has been playing electric bass for 30 years and teaching for 22, and attended the University of Miami, where he received the first Masters in Electric Bass Performance awarded in the US in 1980. Vogt moved to Nashville, TN where he has worked with Allman Bros guitarist Dickey Betts, country guitar legend Jerry Reed, and a host of major label acts. He was the staff bassist on Channel 4 magazine (WSMV-NBC) from 1983-1987 and has taught at Belmont University since 1983. Vogt is also involved in the new Nashville Bass Institute.
The former Aurora bassist now delivers a brilliant solo instrumental CD, entitled Simplicity. Excellent compositions and superb playing highlight this release that features guest spots by bassist Victor Wooten and notable guitar players Stan Lassiter, Shane Theriot and Mike Durham. Vogt is also joined by some outstanding musicians such as Dave Weckl, Jeff Coffin, Dale Armstrong, Jeff Kirk, Tom Reynolds, Jeffrey Scott Wills, Mitch Reilly and Gary Oleyar.
