Craig Chaquico

"Shadow And Light"

The Story
Guitarist Craig Chaquico has engaged and inspired two generations of pop music fans, while mastering the art of musical spirituality. At the same time, he has explored the amazing melodic and rhythmic possibilities of the electric and acoustic guitars. "Cafe Carnival" recently featured both instruments and proved to be his most successful radio single ever, reaching #1 and spending months at the top of the national Smooth Jazz charts. Responding to audiences which have encouraged this dual guitar approach in the "live" setting, Chaquico featured both the electric and acoustic guitars on four of the ten songs included on his seventh solo recording, "Shadow And Light". Chaquico's music has always been marked by an overriding spiritual vision, from his Native American and environmentally inspired pieces, to his later recordings. While writing and recording most of the songs for Shadow and Light, the events of September 11th caused him to see the album's concept in a new light. Inspired by his days playing next to legendary singer Grace Slick, Chaquico has sometimes sought to emulate the kind of phrasing a lead vocalist would use with their voice and interpreting it on his guitar instead. Such as the sensual, salsa flavored first single, "Luminosa," the seductive, opening track "Innocent Kiss" and the spiritual, mystical atmospheres of "Keepers Of The Flame."
