uitarist Mark Kleinhaut is joined on this appealing disc by bassist
Jim Lyden and drummer Mark Macksoud. One would expect to hear
beaucoups standards from an acoustic jazz trio such as this, but
refreshingly, all the tracks are originals - and good ones. The
harmonies are unpredictable, the rhythms eclectic, the playing
excellent. Kleinhaut's round and sonorous archtop sound is front and
center, but Lyden and Macksound are also full partners in this
enterprise, each getting plenty of chances to shine. In addition,
Kleinhaut's intelligent liner notes are another window on the
guitarist's contemplative artistry
