Review of "Rosewood"
|
osewood consists of 13 pieces of open-tuning, unaccompanied solo guitar by San Diego's Jim Earp. Earp favors a sharp attack on his self-built six-string, and his flowing, propulsive delivery keeps his playing interesting and full of surprises. His originals span a range of emotions, including an impressionistic mood piece, 'Solitary Dancer', the jazzy 'Blue', a sunny meditation titled 'Lunes' and the driving chords of his infectious 'Angel's Apple Pie'.
