I wanted to do a soulful, R&B, "Hendrixy" kind of track, but also wanted to
include a vocalist in an improvisational manner . My friend Lynn Davis, who I`ve toured with in Gino Vannelli`s band, fit the bill perfectly.

This track is about 4 years old now and was one of the first numbers I
recorded in my studio. The impetus on that one was, if I remember correctly, a "low-fi" drumloop underneath a sample-drum program. There are lots of different guitar parts, orchestrated in a very calculated way, since there are no keyboards on this track.

This is a track that I used to pay homage to one of my `70s heroes, Weather Report. It was written by Jaco Pastorius and the original version contains one of his classic bass solos. I played the first half of his solo on sitar "note-for-note."

Essentially an ambient track that starts with an acoustic bass and acoustic guitar interplay, and later jumps into a quick jazz section that I use to solo over on a gutstring guitar. I played acoustic bass using an Axon triggering system together with a bass sample.

Also an older track. It was definitely influenced by Pat Metheny and Lyle
Mays and features some really tasty keyboard playing by my old friend Leon Bisquera.

This track has a sort of "Americana" feel to it and was gonna be one of my
more accessible (commercial?) tracks. But the guitar solo in the middle
suddenly takes it left field and nixes that idea. (oh well...)

A voice box exercise with whammy pedal solos and other intricacies. There`s a different effect on the voice box part every 8 bars (have you noticed?)

Straight blues/R&B.

12-string hell ... the part is real double tracking (NO cut and paste here!)
played all the way down twice (ouch...) The orchestration was fun and is
something I love to do. I used Roland gear for that. The gut string part was
kinda tricky, it`s in 5/4 and the changes go all over the place (fun!)

The tempo on this one was gonna be much, much faster, really over the top and totally exaggerated, but in the end i opted to slow it down and come back to normal again. the whole thing was just a jam for the sake of technique and different guitar sounds (sorry).
