What started off as a dream became a reality for 'Net guitarists. Across The Miles, from the Generation Ibanez Project, is a compilation CD featuring musicians from across the planet. Using the Internet as the sole means of communicating, their talents and love of Ibanez guitars were combined to create a passionate musical statement. Featuring fourteen songs and a running length of over an hour, Across The Miles takes you on a musical journey of diverse styles. All selections were professionally recorded using an Ibanez guitar, primarily the JEM or 7-string Universe models. Across The Miles certainly fulfills your appetite for luscious guitars. music his is a short and sweet compilation of 4 Italian guitarists that are for the most part unheard here in the U.S. (we do have Masi, Impellitteri and Luca Turelli however as notables) but don`t let that turn your head, this is a very good sampler by all means!

Guitar Chef is the first-ever Italian fanzine dedicated to guitarists and this CD is very well packaged and produced. The players are Alex De Rosso, William Stravato, Steve Saluto (more from him later in these reviews) and Matt Cafissi. As far as the songs: Rosso`s "Nobody Is Perfect" is somewhat like an instrumental Dream Theater, Stravato`s "Dig The Insane" is a mix of modern-day sampling with Blues/Jazz like Firkins, Saraceno and Zaza. Saluto is next with "Fuzzy Boy", another Blues/Jazz with some Rock and mean-ass soloing. The ideas (not the guitar) are somewhat Santana, Vai and Zappa since they are abstract but they are worked very well within the song. Lastly is Cafissi`s "Desert Rose" which hits a bit of Techno with some Hammond and "Satch", Vai and Gillis type solo flavoring. This compilation only shows a smidgeon of what Italy has hidden within their country that has brought us some great Progressive Metal as well as guitarists. Here`s many addresses to get as much information as you can on the players, the CD or the magazine.
