The Best Of The Dixie Dregs combines tracks from three Dixie Dregs albums released in the late '70s: "Free Fall", "What If' and "Night Of The Living Dregs". Andy Aledort writes in the liner notes, "Taking their cues from '70s fusion heavyweights Return To Forever, Weather Report and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, the Dregs, led by world-renown guitar wizard Steve Morse, encapsulated an earthier feel via vital American country and gospel influences, brilliantly infused with majestic baroque and classical themes. The Dregs also seamlessly blended into their musical tapestry elements of western swing, bluegrass, blues, funk, progressive and hard rock, fusion and even new age music. The result was a sound that was consistently resolute and spritually uplifting. The Dixie Dregs' impressive musical contributions have earned them five Grammy award nominations." Instrumental Guitar, total running time, 52:30

music ave Beegle`s "Clear The Tracks" is a 10-year compilation overview of Dave`s career with his projects Fourth Estate, Artifact Symphony, The BOQ Trio and Blinddog Smokin` (circa this material 1989-1999). Artifact Symphony is some serious music that`s ahead of it`s time with modern-day ideas with more of a technologically correct approach and has some "new wave" elements with serious shredwork ("Insallah" as well as "Chivalry is Not Dead" would be cool additions to the newest "Pure Moods" compilation..alot of atmosphere and tribal stuff/chants with some Darkwave/Techno elements added in). Fourth Estate is some kick-ass Prog-Rock with a hint of Metal to it but nothing too crazy (not like I would really mind!); sort of like old Yes, Genesis and King`s X--just no vocals! The Fourth Estate material from `89 to `95 is surprisingly identifiable for the most part since everyone at this time was trying to be Yngwie, Satch or Vai and Beegle has created something across the grain and is well-balanced with his songwriting skills....this guy can go from hostile to tranquil in a blink of an eye and does it tastefully. More on Fourth Estate in this review section; definately worth checking this guy out and even his acoustic material if you`re into that sort of music or are a listening musician on the side.
