letter rom Ohio comes 34 year old guitarist Chris Steberl (he also plays bass and keyboards), a man whose band has supported Foghat and Dream Theater amongst others, and who has also worked with Robert Sweet (Stryper).

Accompanied by John Homan (Magnitude9) on drums, Chris has produced that relative rarity, an instrumental album that is not a bore to listen to! Mixing interpretations of classical works with some originals, Chris demonstrates a breath of attack and touch lacking in many of today's pretenders; just listen to his version of "Night on Bald Mountain" retitled "Nightmare on Bald Mountain", where he displays the sort of verve and dexterity that Yngwie would be happy with, then check out "Trance Mission" with its progressive flow, and Schenkeresque melody, or slide back in your seat at the light Pat Metheny/Wes Montgomery touch and wit of "Silk and Honey".

"Neptune Island" is Queensryche via Steve Stevens, and is probably the best track on the album, having as it does a melody that insinuates it's way into the cranial cavities and will not depart. Like the recent Steve Stevens album, this is an album that reveals more of it's riches with each spin on the doom deck, and is a release that will garner Chris Sterbel a good deal of deserved attention.
