cd CD Information

Acid
This one`s funky and dramatic, and no, it`s not about drugs, even though it`s pretty trippy. I actually came up with the title by accident. I was working on it in the pre production stage while living in NYC and my neighbor from upstairs came in and said "it sounds like a cross between trip hop and acid jazz." From that point on I called it Acid and it just stuck.

Neurotic Daydreams
I dig this one. Kind of a Latin jazz feel that builds into something quite dramatic. The solo was one take.I was just warming up and said to the recording engineer "what the f---,roll it." The result was a SERIOUS burn. The title just hit me out of nowhere on the subway one day.

Wings
As a composer and arranger, this is one that I`m VERY proud of. It will take you to a lot of places but all the while ,to me, it sounds like flying, hence the title. Probably my personal favorate if I have one.

J-31
This is one where my classical influence is very apparant. It`s a 6/8 feel that is pretty much a tear jerker because it`s so `bittersweet`. Definitely one of the best compositions that I will ever come up with in this lifetime.

Black Hole
In a word,`HYPNOTIC`. "You are falling under my spell". Quick and groovy and to the point with 2 solos back to back. One finesse, one "tear your f------ head off!"

Smoothie
The title says it all. A very sexy groove and tempo. Kind of `smooth jazz` and `classical` meet in a bar and go home together and have a grand old time.

Avalanche
Wait until you get to the chorus and you will know why it`s called Avalanche. This one has a quirky and funky verse, devastating 2 part chorus and a very hip change that is VERY moody and ends with a significant `shred` before going back into the chorus and eventually the outro.

Mourning
This one is kind of sad and painful sounding. Mourning in the sense of mourning a loss or dealing with severe regret of some sort. Not `morning` like `in the AM`. Also a nice change in the middle like the last track. If you`re depressed and near sharp objects, I`d avoid this one until you`re in better spirits.

Aquatic Interludes
Like the 1st track, I played this for someone when it was in the pre production stage and she said "it sounds aquatic" so like Acid, instead of banging my head against the wall trying to come up with a title, I let someone else name it. I`ve actually had this for years. I only got around to recording it properly when I did this record.

Project One
This was the 1st tune that I wrote specifically for this record so I made it the `title track`. The majority of this tune is the complete opposite of Mourning. Most of it is very happy and upbeat with a shuffle feel. There is a change though that will take you by surprise when you least expect it that is quite melodic and beautiful. It ends with a closing section that is pretty evil and menacing sounding, especially in contrast with the rest of the tune. I like to think of the A sections and me celebrating the completion of this record, with the closing section being a warning that I`ll be back for round 2 - so listener beware.
