Guillermo Christi wrote in the Flamenco Connection about the Val Ramos Flamenco Ensemble's 2001 album Por Mi Camino, "Val Ramos remains one of the hidden treasures of the Flamenco world in the Americas. Great playing and superb musicianship." The CD features fabulous tracks with the ensemble (Tanguillos, Tangos and a Rumba) as well as four solo tracks (Bulerias, Tientos, Seguiriya and Soleares). One of the highlights is the singing of Spanish Flamenco singer Jose De Santos on three tracks - an outstanding talent and great Flamenco voice. The opening title track is a beautifully-arranged instrumental and lyrical composition. It features lyrics sung by De Santos as well as guitar and flute solos by Val Ramos and Jennice Velez. Also featured on the album are Jose R. Ramos on rhythm guitar, Carlos Hernandez Chavez on bass, Jose Berrios on bongos, David Calderon on congas, Carlos M. Revollar on cajon and Ashley Jones on violin.
