ere is the long awaited fusion guitar-fest: Stern, John Scofield and Bill Frisell. It is indeed a treat to hear Sco and Stern face off on a minor
blues, a tune written to the changes of "Have You Met Miss Jones" ("Outta Town") and a second-line number as well. Sco is pushed a lot harder than he has been in recent years and as he has not recorded
many standards of late, it is particularly interesting to hear him on these. The sparks fly on all three of the tunes with Stern and Sco. Frisell is featured on 4 cuts (including a funky Stern original) in a change of pace from his more roots oriented material of late and it is a
pleasure to hear him on this type of material. The rest of the cast is outstanding (Ben Perowsky, Jim Beard, Dennis Chambers, Lincoln Goines, Bob Malach), and of course, Mike is burning as usual. Recommended.
