Shred/Heavy Metal
Static is the combination of New York area guitarist Mike Fortin and drummer Dave Penna (Spastic Ink, Planet Hate, Kronin) on their debut record, a full length instrumental CD entitled Patterns. Fortin cites influences such as Meshuggah, Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects, Korn, Fear Factory, and other, heavier type of music. Each of the eight tunes feature aggressive rhythmic work laden with tone, augmented by solos that burst from the speakers with blistering speed and technical flair. Penna provides a dynamic drum backing to each track and contributions by other musicians include Rob Epstein on keyboards and bass and Fabrice Francese on bass. Patterns is rife with shredded metallic assaults - check it out if you live for heavy intensity. Instrumental Guitar (Electric (Heavy)/Shred/Heavy Metal), total running time, 42:47
In your opinion, which guitarist has a similar style or sound as Mike Fortin?
