David Valdes
"Paradise Lost"
|
For an example of head-splittingly magnificent guitar playing from Spain, look no further than David Valdes. His debut CD, "Paradise Lost" blends complex yet appealing pyrotechnics, mega-heavy, earth-crushing riffs, thoughtfully structured, harmonized solos, and neo-classical phrasing. Influenced by greats such as Jason Becker (several cuts are dedicated to him), Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert, Vinnie Moore and others, Valdes stands alongside these greats with his stunning guitar work. A heavy metallic edge dominates "Paradise Lost", which interestingly was mastered by David T. Chastain. Hard to pick highlights here - each cut screams with fury and offers a primer of formidable guitar techniques - you'll just have to get your copy and start practicing!
