Progressive music, flawless performances, and outstanding production - this is Paradigm Shift, from Dan Begelman and Project 7. The album includes eight original compositions and a cover of Jack Bruce's classic "Theme From An Imaginary Western". The third CD from Dan Begelman and Project 7 shows Dan at his best: composing, arranging, performing and producing. As the title suggests, this music represents a departure from their two preceding releases, "Lost For Words" and "BirthDeathInfinity". While their earlier efforts reflected more of a jazz/rock influence, Paradigm Shift moves Dan and drummer Tony Gallino closer to their musical roots. You can hear many elements of the great classic rock bands of the '60s and '70s, such as Cream, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd mixed in with a few doses of the Mahavishnu Orchestra. This is one great progressive instrumental record from beginning to end.
