Leo Kottke

"One Guitar, No Vocals"

The Story
Released in 1999 by Private Music, the title pretty much sums up the recording. "One Guitar, No Vocals" is an all instrumental album by one of the most wide-ranging guitarists of his era. Leo Kottke offers music inspired by flooding hotel rooms ("Snorkel"), Big John and Little Sparky ("Retrograde"), Christmas ("Accordian Bells"), poor white trash ("Peckerwood"), love ("Blimp") and Whitney Balliet's piece on Pee Wee Russell ("Even His Feet Look Sad"). Two tracks from Alan Sharp's movie "Little Treasure" are included ("Three/Quarter North" and "From 'Little Treasure'"), as well as a re-recorded, originally vocal tune ("Morning Is The Long Way Home"). Instrumental treasures as only Kottke can deliver them.
