Vic Stevens` Mistaken Iden.
"No Curb Ahead"
|
Drummer Vic Stevens and his band Mistaken Identities' new CD, "No Curb Ahead", features bassist Percy Jones (Brand X) and guitarist David Fiuczynski (Screaming Headless Torsos) on nine tracks of jazz and jazz fusion, The guitar goes over the top at times yet is grounded by Stevens' insistent backbeats and the solos on saxophone (Chris Lovely) and keyboard/piano (Demetrios Pappas). The bass work is prominent on several tracks -- Chico Huff turning in a great job on the title track. Stevens' world-class drumming mixed with free and opening improvisations -- "No Curb Ahead" is a special treat for fusion fans.
