avid T. Chastain's CD, "Next Planet Please", places an emphasis on the fusion sound and features Chastain using a Roland guitar synth to create keyboard textures that still have the unique Chastain sound. This CD is brings the '70s fusion aspect of Chastain's playing to the forefront. This style lets him branch out from the minor keys that are dominant in heavy metal and play with major and lydian modes. Metal and funk work their way into the songs so this isn't just an homage to the past.
