As you listen to the recordings - keep in mind that all non-guitar sounds (or 'synth-struments') you hear (like strings, pipes, percussion and bells) were created from using the guitar's hexaphonic synth pickup, which transmits the strings vibration to the main synthesizer unit. Then all of these instruments were tracked and mixed together with interlaced soundscapes and other audio effects.

"The Unstruck Melody" By Eric Mantel Now Available - Tuesday, January 3, 2006 - 8:08 AM
Adam St. James, editor for Guitar.com writes in the liner notes, "Eric Mantel has been amazing Chicago and Midwest audiences for many years, as I found after moving here not too long ago. His debut album, "Montage", chock full of blistering riffs and showcasing an already jaw-dropping talent, appeared years prior to the ascendance of Vai-Johnson-Satriani. That he may have led that pack out of the starting gate is not unthinkable, had the ears of the industry been turned in Eric's direction before now. But good things do come to those who wait. With "The Unstruck Melody", this largely undiscovered guitar virtuoso and musical daredevil-wizard stands poised and ready to make the leap to international stardom."
"Just For Fun" By Patrick Rondat Now Available - Monday, January 2, 2006 - 7:12 AM
French guitarist Patrick Rondat's "Just For Fun" was originally released back in 1989, and was Patrick's incendiary debut album. For many years this seminal CD has been deleted and unavailable even in the second-hand market. Demand from his many rabid fans - many of whom were very young at the time of the original release - has been high. Thus, for the re-release, the sound has been re-mastered and is better than the original. A new, more informative booklet was put together, including liner notes written by Patrick (in French, translation available on Rondat's web site), along with new 'old' pictures.
"Rape Of The Earth" By Patrick Rondat Now Available - Monday, January 2, 2006 - 8:56 AM
Guitarist Patrick Rondat's "Rape Of The Earth" was originally released in 1991, and was the French axeman's second solo album. This CD has been described as more technical than his subsequent albums, but Rondat had the skill and experience to know how to combine technique and melody in order to deliver a most satisfying end result. Rape Of The Earth contains heavy-rock 'n' roll, a Django Reinhart composition and classicially influenced pieces which helped Rondat occupy some of the same sonic space as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and John Petrucci.
"Guitar Dreams" By Neil Citron Now Available - Monday, January 2, 2006 - 9:42 AM
Legendary guitarist Steve Vai (Jack Butler in the movie "Crossroads") says of Citronm "Neil is dedicated to anything he applies himself to and gets great results. His guitar playing cuts right to the heart. It's balanced with perfect percentages of technique, tone and wisdom, like a Samurai Warrior. Few can wield the guitar like a sword and bring justice to the realm of instrumental rock. He's way beyond Black Belt." Vai's reference to the Black Belt points to the fact that Citron is an accomplished martial arts master. The culmination of a self-produced three year effort, with "Guitar Dreams", Citron delivers a powerful showcase of guitar acrobatics and pyrotechnics mixed with his familiar melodic sensibilities that keeps his music with the listener long after the songs have stopped.

"Black Glue" By Mike Hartman Now Available - Sunday, January 1, 2006 - 8:33 AM
R. Scott Bolton, writing for RoughEdge.com, had this to say about Mike Hartman's "Black Glue", "As you listen to Mike Hartman's "Black Glue", you can't help but notice the vitality, the charisma, the determination of each tune. These aren't just rock 'n' roll instrumentals featuring a genuine guitar shredder, these are musical pieces that celebrate life. Mike has good reason to celebrate life: Diagnosed at an early age with cystic fibrosis - which doctors said would kill him before he reached the age of 10 - Mike has developed a sense of determination and drive that has propelled him to where he is today: A hell of a guitarist with his own solo CD."
