California guitarist/surfer Tom Rizzo's first solo effort, Native Son, is an EP-length CD that gets it's inspiration from the south swells and waves of the Pacific. Not at all like traditional surf rock, Rizzo's compositions use guitars (electric and acoustic), basses and other instruments to evoke the oceanic breezes, rolling waves and Pacific sunsets that a dedicated surfer would regularly experience. With the exception of a little help on drums from Dave Pinkerton on four tracks, the entire album was written, performed and produced by Rizzo at his home studio.
