Spanish guitarist Fernando Perez writes, "After years exploring different cultures and their way of making music, I decided to reflect these experiences using my favorite instrument, the Resophonic guitar. Played with a bottleneck or slide, the repertoire for this instrument is one of the least developed in the guitar family. Inspired by this and the music of different cultures, I wrote this music that is presented to you now, simply calling it Mojo Roots Music. Among the songs on this CD you will hear echoes of the Hawaiian islands: "Kalani", "Ahi Ahi", "Hawaiian Dream" and "Wiki Wiki" are examples. You can notice a certain spanish Bolero air in "Ahi Ahi", as well as the ragtime rhythm in "Wiki Wiki". "Spooky" is simply some jazz with lots of weirdness, while "Rain Forest" and "LaNika" are straight up contemporary acoustic pieces. From Asia I have a traditional Japanese piece for Koto called "Ame", and inspired by the old Asian "Samurai Song" I wrote '"Oriental". From Central and South America comes "Tango", remembrances of the Argentinean style with a short Habanera from Cuba." Instrumental Guitar (Acoustic/World), total running time, 60:44 - Fernando Perez @ iTunes!
