Review of "Modern Rock Guitar Vol. 1: Abducted By Aliens"

letter enis is a new guitar hero from Bloomington, IN (USA) that got frustrated at the fact that he never found any good instrumental guitar releases. So he decided to make his own (Is it really that easy? Well you gotta' be good at playin' guitar too.) And believe me, Denis is good enough. So he bought himself a 8 track digital recorder/mixer, and started to record in his own apartment.

There are 15 songs on this CD and all are written, produced, engineered and mixed by Denis. He also plays all guitar and bass, sings (on two tracks) and did all the drum programming (whew, he's been busy). The CD starts with the title track "Abducted By Aliens", and I must say, it is my least fave song .It sounds like boring Pink Floyd. But, wait. It just gets better and better."You Don't Have To Pretend" is a nice soft rocker the first of only two songs with vocals. But this is an instrumental CD, and his voice is maybe not top class.

But his guitar work sure is. Track 3, "Driven", is the first taste of things to come. It's a great rocker, and not so far from The God himself (Satriani). "Countdown" is another superb song, that everyone that likes guitar albums will like. But his masterpiece must be track:8, "Night At The Beach". Wow...this song gives me goosebumps. It's a really beautiful song. And his guitar almost sounds like the sea.

The only "bad" thing about this CD is maybe the drum machine. A real drummer would have given this album a more "live" feeling. But on the next CD (that Denis has already sterted to work on) he promise to use a drummer.
