Review of "Metamorphosis"

By: Wes Rover
his entire indie release was recorded by a computer! A PowerMacintosh 6100/60 using Deck II2.2 from OSC was used instead of studio equipment to record and mix this instrumental master piece which was created by one man. Dan Shimmyo's art-piece doesn't sound like a computer generated arcade game, though, like you might expect. It sounds like a professionally produced, engineered, and mastered CD. Top rate sound quality. What makes a great instrumental album is when the listener can sit down and imagine words in place of the guitar shredding. This CD lets you do just that, but it does indeed have some talented axe playing by Dan Shimmyo. There is a metal meets new age feel in the music, but the music is primarily heavy. If instrumental music or guitar music interests you at all, you need to check this CD out.
