On Looking Forward Looking Back, guitarist Carl Filipiak pays tribute to his mentors Wes Montgomery and Pat Martino. The CD features original compostions plus the music of Coltrane, Parker and Mingus. Filipiak says, "I have been on a lifelong journey in music that started the moment a friend played Georrge Benson's "Cookbook" album for me - looking back - it was a musican experience I'll never forget. That, along with discovering Wes Montgomery and Pat Martino in the late sixties, served as the inspiration for the music on this CD. I wanted this record to echo some of those early influences, as well as reflect my appreciation to all the great players that have inspired me along the way.
