Filmed at Birmingham's prestigious National Exhibition centre on the 15th of July 1986 Eric Clapton, along with Phil Collins, Nathan East and Greg Phillinganes gave one of the greatest ever performances featuring a small band format. The set list included four songs fom the (as yet unheard) August album: "Run", "Miss You", "Tearing Us Apart", and "Holy Mother". All four songs were warmly received and some have gone on to become firm favorites with Eric's regular concert supporters.
The appeal of Live 1986 is the combination of music both old and new from Cream, Derek and the Dominoes and subsequent solo material. The full version of "Layla" is featured that includes the beautiful "Thorn Tree In The Garden" second section. It all ends in a rousing rendition of "Sunshine Of Your Love" as the finale.
