Doug Markley attended the University of Miami School of Music, then completed two records for Accord Records in New York, "The Markley Band" and "On The Mark". Later, Markley recorded two albums with Visual Musik, "Sounds That Move Air" and "Philly Fillet". He has since released five independent records,"Sunset Dance", "On The Half Shell", "Believe", "Not So Blue" and his latest recording Lift. Tunes from the "Philly Fillet" record were used as background music on the TV soap All My Children for 8 years. Doug has played and recorded with Ted Baker (who is on the Steely Dan record "Two Against Nature"), Dave LaRue (Dixie Dregs), Doc Gibbs, Andy Snitzer, Darryl Brown (who toured with Weather Report), and Chris Jones (son of Philly Jo Jones). A perfect description of Doug's music on Lift would be jazz/funk, Latin/jazz and jazz/disco with a harder edge and driving solos.
