he 2003 self-titled CD from Nova Scotia guitarist, Leon MacLellan establishes the young guitarist as a practitioner of expertly played instrumental rock with just the right amount of cutting edge style and
substance. Assisted by drummer Scott Ferguson and bassist Bruce Jacobs, the eight track CD is filled with an abundance of vital guitar energies that borders on hard rock while also skirting the perimeters of jazz-rock. MacLellan's been compared to contemporary instrumental guitar heroes like Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson and careful listening to his CD proves that comparison is right on target. Well played and tastefully
packaged, MacLellan's CD is a well-planned, logical step towards getting his name further out there among guitarists and guitar enthusiasts.
