cd CD Information

Propellant
Dedicated to Jonah Lotz. I`ve known "Fumble Fido" since he was just a pup. A great friend for nearly 30 years, he is also the most restless, adventurous soul I know. Maybe I had something to do with that with those 2 AM neighborhood trespassing missions we`d take on nights I`d spend the night. With this piece, I was trying to capture the adrenaline filled moments just before the gate opens and an Olympic skier makes his run.

Submarine Limousine
Dedicated to Tom Zeleny. Tom already had his red strat when I bought that piece o` crap Hondo from the pawnshop. He knew all of the riffs from The Cult`s "Electric" album and I was certainly impressed. What did he teach me first? "Smoke On The Water", "Talk Dirty To Me" and "Get It On" by Kingdom Come! Geez! What a friend! My favorite Tom story involves one particular grocery run where he asked the poor checkout girl, "How much toilet paper goes with this much food?" That`s actually a very good question.

El Cid
Dedicated to George Lynch. My favorite player, hands down. Recently, fans of Mr. Scary have been putting together their own tribute CD, playing their own versions of his songs. I was a little late to join the fun, so I wrote something original for the man that started it all for me. The amazing Dave Beegle plays lead on verse 2. pre-chorus 2, chorus 2 and main solo.

Bumpus Hound Delight
Dedicated to Ty Whisenhunt. Ty and I have made some great music together (Reconcile and [Nil]) and apart (Eve`s Drop and Jay Road). There is no one else I`d rather talk music with. He is a truly gifted musician where it counts the most. You won`t find a bigger Dr. Pepper supporter. He has Dr. Pepper ice cubes in the freezer, so his drinks don`t get watered down. The title of this track refers to this classic move, "A Christmas Story".

Baja Lopez
Dedicated to the brothers Lopez, Tom, Bob & Bill (Dad). The Saturday following Thanksgiving is tamale day at Grandma`s house as per Lopez tradition. The best part about making 30 dozen is listening to the brothers chide each other about the quality of the other`s work. Flamenco guitar by Dave Beegle.

Dead Orleans
Dedicated to Kristi Stice. This was originally to be an Eve`s Drop song for Kristi to sing. The lyrics were an Alice In Wonderland meets the New Orleans underworld type of experience. "Far off dreams of kings and queens, memories are yellowed little things. Wind the clock and you are there, rose petal garland in your hair. City streets heard but never seen. Dead Orleans. The Queen of Hearts has left her bed and now you might loose your head. Left crawling all around like a serpent on the ground." If you need a clue as to why I love Kristi so much, listen to the 2 Eve`s Drop CDs. She was awesome!

The Leaper
Dedicated to Jonah Hepting. My cousin Jonah`s nickname is "The Leaper" for his white boy basketball prowess. I`m usually referred to in comparison as "The Limper", because I`m always getting hurt on the court. In fact, Jonah once broke my jaw when I was guarding him too closely. The challenge here was to combine two of my musical loves, "Flying In A Blue Dream"-era Satriani and Megadeth.

Post Hypnotic S
Dedicated to Jason Tatro. "Copain" and I used to dress up like Michael Jackson and go to school! Why, why, why didn`t someone slap us around? Anyways, a little background on the song. I had Nate do whatever he wanted to do on the drums for a minute and a half and I would take that home and write a song to it. It became a Rorschach test of sorts as I wrote according to my "first impression". Hapi Skratch`s Morris Beegle "informed" me that I would let him play ukulele through a Marshall on one of our songs and since this was experimental in nature... you get shred ukulele right here!

Coast To Coast
Dedicated to Derek Maness. Derek and I once dumped $5 into a jukebox at the old BW3 in town. Why? Because it had the Scorpions` "World Wide Live" in it. It was great to watch all of the frat boys scan the crowd, looking for the jerks who ordered up in hour`s worth of Scorps! Rudi to my Jabs, Derek now plays rhythm for GasHead live.

Seeing You (Arlington Demo)
Dedicated to Amy. The story of how we met.
