This odd meter riff had been spinning around in my head for some time. Even though it is a 11/8 followed by 25/16 rhythm it still grooves somehow. One day I sat together with New World bassist Bernd Fuxa (who also played on my first solo CD). He had some pieces of an old fusion tune of his and they fit perfectly. So I put everything together and that`s how this song happened. The "Silly Swing" intro is a funny, tongue-in-cheek idea that I came up with while sitting on a plane to Italy.

During my life, I`ve learned that every time you are going to face a big trouble, chance are that you will find the solution, trying to see things from a different perspective. The reason why I like this composition is the contrast between the theme and chorus: the 2 sides of this song.

Straight ahead pop-rock song. The name comes from the ending which rides out on a Lydian vamp.

This song is a tribute to one of the greatest artists of our times: Allan Holdsworth. His music has always been an important inspiration for me. I recorded this song during a damn hot summer, in a place without air conditioners: a real HOT ROOM!

This song is mainly based on groove. It was originally written for a big international producer in the U.S.A. to showcase some of my abilities and was actually the first track I did for the J.A.M. CD, getting back into the "guitar hero thang". That`s also how the tune got its title. The outro is the same riff but played in a shuffle-groove and a more Hendrix-like style.

This song was written in the spring during that week when everything suddenly turns green putting a kind of mystical vibe in the air. I always thought the Mixolydian mode had a meditative or mysterical feel to it also. This song tries to capture a bit of those transcendent qualities.

One day I was suddenly hit by this melody. I think it`s beautiful and a little twisted at the same time, making the theme more interesting. When I sat down to finish it, the other harmonies just flowed out of me, as if someone else was using me as a tool to compose.

Since hearing James Brown live I`ve always loved fast funk/R&B - type tunes. Lots of fun to play over. Curved spacetime is pretty cool too.
