Excerpted from Cadence, "Rik Wright's modern jazz recording is entitled Isomorphism, the concept behind which was for the Seattle area guitarist to blend a live acoustic band with guitar soundscape treatments in order to create a cohesive product. To accomplish this, Wright first recorded with a group of musicians who played acoustic instruments. These musicians recorded Wright's compositions that, rather than following the head solo head format, mostly provided sketches for group and individual improvisations. The result of these sessions laid the groundwork for Wright to add various guitar textures and loops after the fact. Wright then went into the studio to perform engineering trickery, adding various soundscapes that underpin the final result. The compositions cover an array of moods and colors, making for an engaging listen. The best example of Wright's technique is heard on the album's open and closer, "Minor You," recorded with two different ensembles. It is a dark and moody piece filled with ambient guitar manipulations." Instrumental Guitar (Electric/Jazz/Fusion), total running time, 48:49
